Some people believe that the Earth is being harmed by human activity. Others feel that human activity makes the Earth a better place to live.

What is your opinion?

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.


Model Answer:

This is a very critical issue to discuss. Some of the people are on the view that the Earth is being affected dangerously with human activities, while some others own the opinion that humans are trying to make the planet a better living place. Both the schools are right in their reasons. A comparative discussion will make the matter clearer to all.

At first, let us consider the harmful impacts of human on earth. The environment is mostly being polluted by the human activities. They are developing mills, factories, using fuel-driven vehicles, and many other products that are causing damage to the environment and the planet. The level of carbon dioxide and other toxic chemicals is on the rise in the atmosphere. Consequently, the earth is becoming warmer. If the warming (better known as greenhouse effect) continues, it will bring destruction to the earth. Many of the areas will go under water and human suffering will increase. Besides, we also are destroying the natural resources as well. After a certain time, we will be in great danger if all the natural resources are finished.

On the other side, there are some people who are trying hard to reduce all the damages and make the earth as a better living place. They are conducting campaigns across the world to reduce the pollution. In fact, only the pollution are greatly responsible for damaging the earth. The pollution damage the environment and consequently will make the planet unlivable. So, they are restless in supporting their cause to stop damaging the earth. Besides, many of the governments of various countries have also taken measures to their respective lands to protect the environment and thus saving the earth. As a result, the rate of deforestation has been reduced to a notable extent. The use of toxic chemicals has come to a reasonable level.

At last, it is evident that the attempts to make the earth a better living place have been going on. Many of the governments are aware of the issue while the awareness has also been created among the ordinary people. So, even if the other people try to damage the earth, it would not be possible for them to do so. The commoners will protest against the harmful activities.
